What is Mate Engine?
MateEngine is a free desktop mascot application that offers the same features as other programs without requiring paid models or avatars. It lets you use your own custom models freely on your desktop. You can make your avatar dance, sit on the taskbar or windows, and interact with you at no cost. MateEngine is free to use, but it can also be purchased for 5.49 USD on Steam to support development and gain access to additional content.
MateEngine goes beyond basic VRM0.X and VRM1.X support by also supporting the .ME (AssetBundle) format. This allows you to create avatars with custom shaders, light sources, emissive textures, and more, making it one of the most flexible desktop mascot applications available.

Your avatar can sit on any window or on your taskbar, giving your desktop a lively and charming touch. When she’s resting there, you can interact with her by giving gentle headpats or watching her react in different cute ways. Minecraft Integration
Minecraft Integration! MateEngine connects directly with Minecraft, letting your favorite waifu react to what happens in your game. She can notify you when mobs are nearby, comment when you discover new biomes, and react when your health or hunger gets low. She talks to you when day turns to night, wishes you good night when you go to bed, and even notices when it starts to rain. She might ask what you are crafting or tease you for playing all night, but she will always keep you company in your pixel world.

No worries, that can be fixed with a simple yet useful feature that helps you stay productive. Your favorite waifu can notify you with custom alarms based on specific days and times. You can even set personalized messages, so she’ll remind you or jumpscare you whenever you start getting too distracted by your favorite anime instead of finishing your work. This way, you can still be the reliable accounting employee without missing any deadlines.

You can completely customize how she talks to you, turning her into the charming sweetheart or the bold and confident personality you’ve always wanted. You can change her name, tone, and entire personality to match your own style and mood.
MMD Dance Motions!
You know what is missing? Exactly, letting your waifu dance to the best Hatsune Miku and Kasane Teto songs. With MateEngine, you can download many dance mods, including MMD dances that were specially converted for the app. This lets your favorite character perform real Vocaloid routines right on your desktop. It is something we always wanted, because watching cute and funny dances while listening to our favorite songs makes everything feel more lively and fun.
Can we get Teto?
Yes, you can get Kasane Teto. Nothing is stopping you, because MateEngine supports VRM0.X, VRM1.X, and .ME model formats. This means you can use any avatar you want as long as it is a VRM or .ME file. You can create your own models with Blender, VRoid Studio, or Booth, or download them from our Workshop or other third-party websites. MateEngine belongs to you. You have full control over what to use, and it is completely free.
Endless Settings
We want to give you control, and by that we mean full control. Every parameter in MateEngine can be customized. Our goal is to avoid hearing people say make this a setting and instead be able to say it already is one. Opening the settings menu gives you access to almost half of all available options, but if that is not enough, you can press F8 to open the developer settings menu. There you can freely modify everything and even break things if you want. We believe giving users full control shows trust, and that trust is an important part of what makes MateEngine special.
Easy to use Radial Menu
Using MateEngine is simple and intuitive. Just right-click the avatar to open a clean radial menu that displays all essential actions and options instantly. MateEngine was designed to be lightweight and easy to use, with a focus on a clear and compact interface. We believe that a straightforward design is one of the most important features for a desktop mascot. Simple does not mean limited—MateEngine is fully customizable, giving you plenty of settings to adjust everything exactly the way you like it.
